Şebnem Karasu is a U.S.-based food industry executive and consultant with more than 25 years of global experience in food safety, validation, regulatory compliance, business development, and sterilization technologies.
She is recognized for her leadership in microbial reduction and sterilization systems and for building the first independent toll steam sterilization facility in Turkey, along with other entrepreneurial ventures in the food sector.
Over the course of her career, Şebnem has held senior roles in global sales, business development, and technical advisory, working with both organic and conventional food companies. She has played a major role in the startup and growth of eight companies and has received numerous entrepreneurship awards, including High-Impact Global Entrepreneur by Endeavor Global, Women Entrepreneur of the Year (2nd place) by Garanti Bank and the Women Entrepreneurs Association, and SME of the Year by Türkonfed, the Confederation of Industrial Businessmen.
She holds an M.S. in Biotechnology & Bioengineering from Izmir Institute of Technology and a B.S. in Food Engineering from Ege University. A native Turkish speaker, she is fluent in English and conversational in German.
